Pulse Health Screening offers a variety of tests to check your hormone levels. Some tests require a full blood sample, others a finger prick blood sample or saliva sample which may be performed in your own home.

If you live within a 25-mile radius of Bedford, we can arrange for a nurse to visit to take your blood sample(s). If this is part of a health assessment, you will not be required to pay an additional consultation fee of £35.

Home testing kits can be purchased from this page. Full instructions are contained in the test kit, then returned to one of our chosen laboratories for analysis. You should receive your results within three weeks.

Please Note: The fee for your assessment must be paid at the time of your appointment. We accept cash or cheque payments only but if you wish to pay by credit or debit card, please let us know at the time of booking and arrangements can be made beforehand.

If you fail to keep your appointment or cancel within 24 hours of your appointed time, you will be required to pay the full amount of your fee. Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours of your appointment time will be charged 50% of the assessment fee. This does not include laboratory test fees.

Basic Two Hormone Test (Oestradiol & Progesterone)

This test is highly recommended if you use transdermal (through the skin) hormone supplementation such as natural progesterone cream. It takes the guess work out of any hormone supplementation.

Oestrogens are predominantly female hormones but excessive oestrogen (or oestrogen dominance) causes unwanted symptoms as well as over-stimulation of the breasts, ovaries and uterus, which can lead to cancer.

Progesterone is thought of as a hormone balancer, particularly of oestrogen. It helps to create a balance of all other steroid hormones and has been found to be just as important to men as women. (This is generally thought to be because of all the foreign and environmental oestrogens that we are constantly exposed to.)

Price: £90.25

Hormone Balance Assessment (Oestradiol,
Progesterone, Testosterone, DHEAS and morning cortisol)

This test kit offers a more comprehensive picture of your hormonal balance as it includes assessment of your androgen hormones (testosterone and DHEAS), which play an important role in maintaining the structural integrity of skin, bone and muscle in men and women.

Assessment of your morning cortisol levels is an indicator of your adrenal function. High cortisol levels have been closely associated with insulin resistance, diabetes, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and breast cancer. Low cortisol levels can be associated with excessive fatigue, thyroid function as well as allergies caused by a compromised immune system. Either high or low cortisol levels are a warning sign of adrenal imbalance which can accelerate the aging process and have devastating effects on health.

This test gives a good basic assessment of overall steroid hormone balance or imbalance and association with specific symptoms. It can be an indicator of hypothyroidism, osteoporosis, insulin resistance as well as menopause and PMS.

Price: £166.25

Hormone Balance Profile (Oestradiol,
Progesterone, Testosterone, DHEAS and 2 x cortisol)

This test does everything the Hormone Balance Assessment Kit does and more and is the best value for money! Through a comprehensive evaluation of your overall hormonal balance it is recommended for anyone who is at risk of any of the problems mentioned above. Recommneded for women with a risk of breast cancer

Price: £199.50

Basic Andropause Profile (oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEAS, morning cortisol, FSH and LH)

Men have a “menopause” too where their sex hormones decline. This can result in loss of virility, stamina and drive. This test using a finger-prick blood sample and saliva will identify imbalances and provide a report which explains what can be done to improve the situation.

Price: £261.25

Male Hormone Panel (free levels of oestradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEAS, morning cortisol as well as PSA)

This test offers a more comprehensive assessment that includes consideration of PSA - to be recommended if prostate problems are suspected or a potential risk factor.

The prostate typically enlarges as men grow older, and because small amounts of PSA are produced by the healthy prostate, its blood level tends to rise. Benign prostate enlargement (a condition which causes urinary symptoms such as poor flow, getting up at night), is a common non-cancer condition causing PSA levels to rise.

It provides overall assessment of male vitality, performance and prostate health. It is an indicator of prostate enlargement or cancer risk.

Price: £218.50
